FAQs + More

Swimmer Ceramics is handmade by Victoria Rickson in San Francisco, CA. Using techniques inspired by Nerikomi and Agateware, the work utilizes color to reference art, textiles and nature.

While working towards her BFA in Photography at Parsons School of Design, Victoria found an interest in 3d work, specifically ceramics. After exploring the medium in community studios in NYC for 5 years, she started to explore colored clay more seriously in 2020.

Swimmer was named after the ways water has intersected Victoria’s life: a childhood on Vancouver Island as a competitive synchronized swimmer, an adulthood rediscovering the ocean through surfing, and finally, how symbiotic the relationship of water and clay is in the ceramics process.

  • I ship using USPS priority mail and insure for the full price of the piece purchased, because, things happen!

I don’t have a preset international shipping option, but if you want to order, send me an email and we can discuss options!

  • The process of nerikomi & handbuilding lends itself to the makers hand being visible in the work, and natural variations in pattern, color and texture.

Every piece I make gets tested and inspected, and if its listed online, I believe it to be perfectly imperfect. If its listed as a second I do my best to describe the reason its marked down - and I’m happy to share additional photos if needed.

If you do happen to discover a functional issue that I may have overlooked, or if you believe the item doesn’t match the description, please reach out so we can solve the problem!
Otherwise, I don’t accept returns due to on size, color or pattern, if the item was listed with all that information.

  • I’m not currently taking custom orders for new shapes/sizes that don’t already exist in my work - that being said, if you see something that I currently make, that you want a slight modification on, or want to order sets, please email me and we can discuss:

  • I have previously sold wholesale - but I’m currently taking a break to focus on developing my work to the next phase. I plan to reopen wholesale in the future, but don’t currently have a date in mind.
